Alma Tattoo removal uses the Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser. This type of laser uses specific wavelengths of light to break down the tattoo ink particles into smaller fragments, which are then gradually eliminated by the body's immune system.

During each session, the laser is directed at the tattooed area, and the pulses of light target the ink particles without damaging the surrounding skin.

The sessions are typically spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart to allow the body to heal and the immune system to eliminate the fragmented ink particles.

The laser tattoo removal treatment can take on average around 30 minutes, depending on the surface area of the tattoo being targeted. Discomfort during the treatment can usually be eliminated by the use of local anaesthetic. Immediately after the treatment, redness and swelling may occur, but will generally subside within 48 hours. Pinpoint bleeding may also occur particularly in the early treatments when a surgical dressing will be applied to give additional protection.

Laser tattoo removal can cause some discomfort or pain during the procedure, although the level of pain experienced can vary depending on individual sensitivity, the location of the tattoo, and other factors. To minimize any potential discomfort, topical or local anesthesia may be applied before the procedure.

After the laser treatment, the treated area may appear red, swollen, and possibly blistered. Our doctor may apply a topical antibiotic ointment and cover the area with a bandage. It's important to keep the treated area clean and follow any specific aftercare instructions provided to minimize the risk of infection and promote healing.

The initial healing phase typically lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. During this time, you may experience mild discomfort, tenderness, and swelling. It's important to avoid picking at any scabs or blisters that may form, as this can increase the risk of scarring or infection.

As the weeks progress, the treated area will gradually heal. The redness and swelling should subside, and any blisters or scabs will naturally shed. It's important to protect the treated area from excessive sun exposure and apply sunscreen as advised by our specialist to prevent hyperpigmentation or other skin complications.
